Every piece of wood has it’s own story. And it continues once it has left our workshop into your home.
Not sure which wood to choose? Here is a brief rundown on some of our favourites…
Redwood & Pine
These softwoods are mainly used for our indoor gifts, such as our watchstands. As it says, the wood is softer and can be prone to marking. It is not weatherproof and not recommended for outdoor use.
Oak
One of our more versatile options, either in laminated panels (used for the lemon chopping boards), or as timber straight from the saw mill. It is a hardwood and very good outside although it will need treating with something to protect it longterm.
Veneered MDF
Widely used for box making, we use MDF and veneer it in house to find the perfect finish. It is available in a range of thicknesses. MDF will crumble if wet, so is only for decorative indoor use.
Cherry, Ash & Walnut
All woods have their own features. Cherry darkens as it ages, Ash unique grain patterns, and Walnut is simply stunning.
Exotic woods
We don’t hold stocks of exotic woods, but are happy to work with them. Please get in touch to discuss options and pricing.
Finishes
We offer a number of finishing options, from wax to varnish. And we are just about to launch our own board butter to use with chopping boards.
